Wedding at the Old Stone Church (8-13-16)

Yesterday I had the privilege of officiating the wedding of a young couple by the names of Carly and Ross. Weddings are an opportunity for us to reflect on our marriage and the covenant God has brought us into with our spouse. I want to take a moment to consider these words from the wedding ceremony: "Wedding rings are symbolic reminders of the unbroken circle of eternal love. This love was shared between the three persons of the Trinity for all eternity, a perfect love between Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. . . . May these rings serve to remind you of the freedom and power of your love." Take a moment with me to look at the wedding band that's on your finger. The circle of divine, eternal love has invited us through covenant to be partakers of the Godhead's perfect eternal love through marriage. Seek God today for the kind of love he shares within himself, an infinite love beyond anything the world offers, and love your spouse that way. Remember, "two can defend themselves. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken." Invite God into your marriage, because that three is best!
